4 tricks to make old clothes an eye-catcher again

You go to your wardrobe, open the doors, look in for a few seconds and realize that you have nothing to wear again – that’s only true in a figurative sense, of course, because of course the compartments and clothes rails are filled with lots of clothes. Be honest with yourself: The problem is actually that the clothes in your closet are too boring for you, right? The t-shirt that was very trendy last summer is now out? Your once beloved XXL shirt no longer corresponds to your taste and is it too warm for a sweater anyway?

If these thoughts or similar thoughts regularly run through your head while looking at your clothes, it is time to declare war on this pessimism. We’ll show you how to breathe new life into boring clothes – regardless of whether it’s a complete outfit, a wrapped bolero or a seductive lace insert: You will be amazed how easily you can transform simple clothes into designer pieces with these 4 tricks.

1. Sew the skirt and top

For this you need:

  • 1 men’s shirt
  • Elastic band
  • scissors
  • Sewing kit

That is how it goes:

1.1 Cut the collar off the shirt and cut the shirt horizontally under the armpits.

1.2 Now sew an elastic band at the intersection of the lower part of the shirt.

1.3 If necessary, sew around the cut edges on the upper part of the shirt so that the edges are straight – you have a chic outfit made of just one shirt.

2. Top stake

For this you need:

  • T-shirt
  • Cardboard stencil
  • chalk
  • Iron-on hem tape
  • top
  • Iron

That is how it goes:

2.1 Cut out a motif of your choice from a piece of cardboard. Then place the stencil on the t-shirt and trace the outline.

Tip: It is best to use chalk for this, as any residue can be washed out without any problems.

2.2 Cut out the recorded motif from the T-shirt, turn it inside out and frame the intersection with a hem tape.

2.3 Now put the tip over it, cover it with a piece of fabric and iron it in place. Then turn the t-shirt over; the pretty lace insert is finished.

3. Free shoulder area

For this you need:

That is how it goes:

3.1 Fold the T-shirt vertically and cut off the shoulders and sleeves.

3.2 Draw a triangle on the neck area with chalk and then cut it out.

3.3 Now cut the cut out triangle so that you can use it to tie a small bow on one side of the shoulder area – your airy T-shirt with stylish shoulder area is ready.

4. Homemade bolero with laces

For this you need:

That is how it goes:

4.1 Cut the sweater open vertically on the front and also cut a rectangle out of the back.

4.2 Now cut the rectangle from the back into four strips of the same size; then knot two strips together to form a long strip.

4.3 Cut a hole in one corner of the cut sweater and tie a tied strip of fabric to it.

4.4 Repeat this step on the other side as well. Now all you need to do is wrap the bolero around your body and tie it together – and you have an airy outfit for warm days.
