10 tips to relieve foot pain

Historically, men were the first to wear heels. As early as the 10th century, riders began to use heeled shoes in order to have a firmer grip in the stirrups. But today, it is especially women who suffer from blisters because of heels or too tight shoes.

But luckily, there are a few tips to help you forget about shoe pain. So you can also survive with high heels or uncomfortable shoes.

1. Glue the toes

Between the third and fourth toe, there is a nerve that is very stressed when wearing high heels. In order to make life and yours easier, you must tie these two toes together. This reduces the pressure on the nerve and makes walking much more comfortable. If you don’t have duct tape to tie them together, you can also put some cotton wool between the two toes.

2. Absorb perspiration

The fact that the feet sweat is quite normal and there is nothing to be ashamed of. If you’re one of those people who sweat a little more, put panty liners in your shoes. They reliably absorb sweat throughout the day. And until you take your shoes off, no one will notice what’s in them.

Panty liners are not only useful for combating sweat in shoes, they can also be used for many other household problems.

3. Dry shampoo

There are special powders for the feet that prevent sweat and slip into shoes. But you might as well use dry shampoo and spray your feet with it. The dry shampoo prevents you from slipping into your shoes, especially in high heels, and hurting your feet.

4. Prevent friction

Rubber flip-flops are very popular in summer. But for many, they rub between the toes, especially if you sweat a lot or if your shoes are wet. To avoid this, buy flip flops with toe separators already covered in fabric or make them yourself at home. The advantage of doing it yourself is that you can change the fabric as often as you want to match your outfit.

5. Fight against blisters

Lip balm is not only suitable for application to the lips. You can also apply it to the areas of your feet that are particularly prone to blisters. The balm makes them softer and smoother. But be sure to use colorless models so that you don’t get any unsightly marks in your shoes. And don’t forget to use two different lip sticks: one for the feet and one for the lips.

6. Fold before you buy

When buying tall shoes, you need to make sure that they can bend easily in the bunion area. This is the area that touches the ground and on which most of your weight rests. If it can be folded, it is a good sign and it makes the shoes more comfortable. Shoes that are stiff and cannot be bent will cause abnormal gait and foot pain over time.

7. Prefer wide heels

When it comes to heels, the thicker the better. High, unstable stilettos might look chic, but they cause a whole host of problems. When you walk you need good support and balance, which is why your heels need to have more surface area. This will also allow you not to get stuck with your heel.

8. Get rid of odors and bacteria

Sweaty feet and the wet insides of shoes provide the perfect environment for bacteria to grow and can lead to athlete’s feet. Walking will also be painful for you if your toes are sore and itchy.

There are several ways to get rid of bacteria and bad odors:

  • Mix equal parts water and vinegar and spray the solution into your shoes.
  • Mix strong alcohol like vodka, apple cider vinegar and a few drops of tea tree oil and spray the mixture into the shoes.
  • Fill coffee filters with baking powder and put them in your shoes overnight.
  • Place unused tea bags in your shoes for several hours.

10. Use soles

There are two types of insoles: standardized and personalized. On the one hand, they provide support and absorb shock while walking, and on the other hand, they realign the feet in the shoes, which relieves pain. It is best to invest in several pairs so that you have enough for all your shoes.
